Hello, everyone! after dealing with real life and the other nonsense of living, panny and i have decided to bring back war of change. give a round of applause. we’ve worked through all of the information and hopefully improved coherency and cohesion; however, tell us if we missed something. eventually, we’ll announce an event to celebrate the re-opening, so look out for information on that. -RAIDNE, THE HEAD ADMIN
From the moonless night, screams of terror and fear resound, spreading across the world and infecting the masses; however, those sleepless nights occurred years ago. A new era began with the fires of war, and with no end in sight, the residents of Selene Isle trudge through life, basking in the momentary peace. Despite their prayers for continued monotony and peace, a storm brews, stirred to life by the continued presence of Rapture and Wraith. And as we set our sights on the seemingly peace laden isle, we must ask: how shall this tale end?
As the years passed, the number of true pairs increased; however, they continued to live in the shadows, catering to the whims of the mundane. Seven Moons kept watch over them all, instructing them and assisting them, but for many, the attitudes and ideals of the organization were smoldering, suffocating. With Seven Moons and the mundanes, they could not grasp the freedom, the power dangling before their eyes. In the beginning, rebellion was a dream, a fantasy, a figment—developed by the repressed and carried forward due to the nature of humanity. No one expected the call to sound, and no one expected the call to be answered. However, it happened.
There she was sitting by the gazebo a breathe caressed the alabaster skinned child. Sitting by the edge of the small forgotten gazebo, the steel frame covered by a fine layer of mold and rust ivy already climbed its way around the nooks and crannies. The beautifully floral pattered carved on the steel slowly decayed as time long forgotten the silent building.
It was perfect for a recluse such as herself. Forgotten by society, forgotten by the residents, it was perfect for a person wanting reprieved from the numerous drones that scattered around the streets, along the every corner of the island to as far as she can see... nice way to describe her fellow humans isn’t it?
Though the child has long ago separated herself from that classification, what human would she be when she doesn’t know nor does she had the urge to understand the simple beings that is... the same race she was born in. Through a small eroded hole on the gazebo’s fence she managed to slip her legs enough to dip them into the cool waters of the lake. Now most people would have warned her. A complete foreigner not to do unless she was sure there weren’t any fresh water crocodiles roaming the area. Or fresh water sharks that an island so close to ocean water might have. But still.. looking through that impassive gaze she sent the clear waters.
Does it look like she cared... A faint breeze brushed clear silver strands of hair, jostling through the messy ponytail that held it the thin purple laced string buried itself further into her silver colored locks. Amethyst orbs stayed fixated on the water, watching the faint ripples play upon the surface. Her guardians told her to get some fresh air, get to know the neighborhood after dragging her out of the school they tossed her into after moving here a year ago. She guessed they got tired of having to check on her monthly there. The child shrugged, tossing the thought into the large pile in her subconscious mind.
She cant do much of anything, she lacked... the desire to associate herself with the people around her. She lacked that drive to mingle and integrate herself into the ever flowing flow of urban life. She moved her feet, watching as the water dripped from the limb. The rays touched the soaked flesh, stinging it then cooled by the bellowing winds that rustled the tall pines around the area.
"It's the firefly again..." The young boy muttered as his eyes set a gentle gaze upon the small yet beautiful insect as it flew around him. It has been few days this little creature was sighted near him. It did not bother him, or even fellow members of Rapture in the nightclub, but what strange about it was how only he could see it. Oh, maybe it was not just him but Dante too. Huffing lightly in annoyance, the older image of him- the creation of his own mind raised his eyes promptly over the flying living thing that looked like a twinkling little star. His lips were apart and his voice heard, echoed in the boy's mind like an ordinary human.
"I wonder what it wants with us." He said, eyeing the strange flying pattern of it.
Ever since he discovered the sudden appeared name on his body, Leon began to see fireflies in the air. At first, he thought it was a mere coincidence since fireflies do appear at night, but slowly he began to wonder. Why would fireflies fly around here, in the center of the island where there were buildings and noises, not trees and silence? Were the fireflies lost? It can't be. He felt it was even bizarre when the small swamp only appeared around him, forming a faint and twinkling line wrapping him like a thread. Being an innocent kid, and slightly naive according to Dante, he approached Haine who was resourceful and well-acknowledged about what was going on in this island. He expected a little more than an eyebrow raising over his statement about fireflies dancing around him.
"Pixies? Leon, wake up. This is a busy city. There's no firefly here. If you want to see one, I'll take you to the gazebo." The female replied, chuckling lightly. He had a shocking face as he could not believe she thought he was making up the story and as she treated him so... so... child-like! Furious, the young boy stormed out of the room.
Dante sighed as he recalled the evening event. "You know you asked for it. She can't see this firefly ghost." The conscience spoke. Leon grumbled and glared at him, a reflected image of himself. How should he know that?! It was not like the firefly was translucent. And it was flying, if he even considered it floating like a ghost. The copper-red haired boy bit his bottom lip and wondered in his mind about this. Perhaps the firefly was lost. Few days ago, the swamp of fireflies began to fade. One by one, the twinkling star vanished into the air. And now all that's left was this little guy. Leon's emerald eyes widened, simultaneously with Dante's groaned.
"Oh no, Leon. No. No no no!"
Leon nodded, with confidence. Yes. That's perhaps the answer! Leon turned behind for his room door and went out while saying, "We are going to the gazebo."
- - - x x x - - -
The gazebo. Who would have thought Leon would be so brave enough to come here alone, at such time and weather? Well, even the boy himself sprung in amazed at how recklessly his legs had brought him here. Wearing the same dark shirt he had from earlier, only to tuck the thin layer with warm fur-material coat on top, Leon shivered over the chilly breeze that blew across the field. His eyes shut tightly and opened to reveal light emerald under the glimmering moon. Cold. He hated cold the most. His eyes lingered behind over Dante who remained calm and quiet. His eyes appeared sort of drifted away, perhaps he was trying his best not to remember the pain from having their face drowned in cold water.
"Dante." He called the name and looked up. The conscience looked at the firefly at it slowly and surely began to move away towards a roofed hut. It was the gazebo and there was someone there. The two looked at each other and started following the firefly. Little by little they could see the figure clearer. The boy's heart suddenly drummed in anxiety without any reason he could tell. It was a spontaneous reaction and he wondered why. Dante stopped and let Leon paced quicker, chasing the twinkling firefly and coming closer to the person. It was a girl, from behind.
"Ah!" Leon gasped lightly and stopped. He noticed he may had disregarded thing called privacy as the gap between them was only few meters away. His eyes had glanced down on the path before they looked up to see the firefly but it was gone. Blinking, Leon damped his lips from the cold wind and gathered courage to speak.
"Hello there. I'm... Leon. Sorry... if I disturb you but..."
Dante appeared beside Leon who seemed to be in a panicking state. Laughing little bit at the recklessness, he muttered, "Hold your horses, Leon. I think you might end up scaring the person." Leon looked at Dante first and then back at the girl. Oh, maybe he should not rush things. He fidgeted as he waited for the person to turn and reply.
Voices, footsteps the drumming noise continued to thump within her earlobes. Closer and closer the scratch of heels against the dirt road that connected to the gazebo to the light crunch of the grass being flattened by one’s feet. Or the sound of the tall grasses bending against an arm moving it out of their way, her guardians taught her an important lesson..
To be perceptive of ones surroundings had she not taken the lesson to heart she would have ignored it. Like she had done so in the past, ignore the world like it ignored her existence. Instinctively, she felt the urge to raise her dainty hand. A thin finger lifted into the air, letting the cold chilling winds brushed past it as it flew by her. She didn’t have much on her except for the spaghetti strapped lavender dress and darker violet long sleeved bolero that covered her shoulders and arms. As she lifted her hand a familiar illuminating bug landed on it.
A firefly....
The same creature that danced around her for days until the last couple when one by one they drifted off, her guardians never noticed it. Especially Sky, if he had he would have reacted giving the child the conclusion, the damn things were for her eyes only. A figment of her imagination? A mirage, or she was seeing things that weren’t there. Logic dictates no firefly would be sane enough to roam around a city filled with smoke and traffic.
They’ll roam around in an area such as the place she was currently at.
The footsteps were getting closer, she mused inwardly until she could clearly hear the gasp that slid off the newcomer’s lips. The urge to turn now whispered softly upon her ears, casting its urgings in gentle convincing whispers. Like a seductress signaling for its pray to fall into her fingers. Craning her neck ever so slightly the silverette turned as the last remnants of the firefly vanished from her fingers.
Green met amethyst tinted orbs, one full of life while the other was as empty as a frozen tundra. But something peeked from in them. A feeling she cant explain...that made her want to give him the attention she rarely gave to another soul. It was the same soothing glow she felt before... but lost due to some... unfortunate circumstances. His voice reached her ears, it sounded nervous, frightened... Something she was unaccustomed to till now.
Leon, the name made an imprint into her memories, storing it away for future purposes she waited for him to finish until the last word left his lips her hand however already reached deep into the vestige of her inner pockets. Feeling until the smooth rectangular surface that belonged to her phone made itself known. Bingo.
Satisfied that she found it, she took it out, fingers rapidly went over the touch screen typing out the message she wanted to share. She has a voice... but why bother use it.
Once satisfied she held out the device within reading distance of the boy. It said. ‘Amaterasu. And you didn’t disturb me.’
"Amaterasu?" He pronounced the name that was displayed on the screen. His eyes lingered along the sentence for more words, almost as if she was literally talking to him with her own voice and mouth. Leon was used to imagining things, so it was not hard for him to imagine the words were verbally spoken. His emerald eyes blinked few times as he sprung on his toes, excited. The girl replied, and that was a good sign! If he was to have wings, the pair would have flapped and he would have been floated few inches in the air in joy. Watching and unfortunately sharing the eagerness, even though he wished he did not, Dante made a smirk and commented his sudden fluster of emotions.
"Didn't I say to hold your horses, Leon?" He said, trying not to laugh at the childish expression the young boy has on his face right now. His pale cheek turned reddish while his ears were flickering. One leg marched front as he spoke, "What a beautiful name you have! If I'm not mistaken, it is referring to the goddess of sun right?"
Goddess. How it fit her who looked nothing like other females he had met before. His eyes drifted back to her and before he could speak again, he realized the eyes he was looking at were like a doll; they were... sad to look at. Leon began to understand something. Perhaps he did disturb her privacy to be alone in her own thoughts. Such eyes were resembled to his long time ago, when he was in the brothel. His heart ached, making his hand repulsively held up over his chest. The cold air was not helping either. It reminded him of the times he preferred not to remember. And then there was warmth. It flowed in out of the blue and slowly Leon opened his eyes back.
He regained his posture and smiled at the girl. Perhaps this was no coincidence. Perhaps, he was brought her to ease whatever inside the girl's clouded mind. Dante interrupted.
"Try not to play hero, Leon. You will only make more messes for me to clean up later." He said. Leon grumbled and shot a glare to his right, where Dante was standing. Sadly though, only the boy could see him and he would be seen glaring at trees nearby instead. He turned his head back to the Amaterasu girl and smiled. Smile was all he could and was able to do. He was not sure if he could do other than that in this situation or any other meetings, but smiling was the best thing he could do.
"Alone? Strange. It's rare to see a girl alone here." He tried to bring in a conversation, melting the ices between them. He was trying his best to get them closer. He wanted them to get to know each other, and carefully his mind played with words. He was anxious all right. He wanted to make sure the girl won't run away from or think bad about him.
"Ah! Please to meet you, Ama... um, can I call you Ama?" He said.
Her parents had hoped by naming her that she would prove to be a useful daughter instead of the frail husk that had be to be sent to the hospital from every little thing that ailed her. They had hoped she would be as useful as her twin... the thought brought a sudden knife slicing into the rock solid organ she calls a heart. A pain she hid expertly well behind the façade of a stoic doll. Masks were useful... it hides things people don’t want to see. It hides things that she wanted to stay hidden. Emotions, heart, the childish yearning for things that were meant to be unreachable,
Those things she wanted no one to know...she wanted to stay hidden in the deep recesses of the darkness that fed within her cage. Moving her legs out of the water, the cold draft cooling off the water droplets bringing its icy touch onto her skin, but the child paid it no head as she tucked her legs back onto the dry surface before turning her body to properly face the boy.
Such a strange man... her eyebrow arched slightly, watching the excited whimsical expression that danced on the boy’s façade. He looked...happy that she replied? It was a mere reply. She thought. Nothing more nothing less, the human psyche truly is a broad subject. Sky was right about that. Her hand paused on her phone, her brain danced through various scenarios and replies until his voice brought her attention back to him. Strange.. another thing she noted was the want to keep her attention to him. Like every word he spoke draws her attention to him like a moth to a burning light. He asked if he could call her... Ama? She tilted her head, ironically the same thing she calls her guardian. She nodded however, her hand typing without the consent of her gaze at it before showing her the message she wrote by memory. ‘I don’t mind... call me whatever you wished.’
Her hand paused again, bringing the phone back to her as she began to type out a new sentence. ‘Goddess of the Sun and life... hai or at least that what was written in Japanese folklore.’ The child answered through the text. She hasn’t had the urge to talk not when typing made it easier for her. Most thought of her as a mute already so why bother exerting the force to prove them wrong? A waste of energy and time in her opinion,
Alone... his words finally made her rethink her earlier statement. Loneliness...she couldn’t remember the last time she took heed of the feeling. She barely found it strange that she’s always alone being used to since she was a child she barely noticed it anymore. She shook her head, her mouth moved, but no sound came until...a faint voice echoed from her. As soft as the cold winds and just as silent to the point he might have to strain to hear.
“It doesn’t bother me... I’m used to it.” She spoke. Figuring that the boy might have meant if it bothered her at all. Which...it really didn’t... Once a person gets used to one thing its hard to notice it anymore.
"Please don't say that. You are not alone. I'm here, am I not?"

Wind blew gently, like a sign from the great power above fate was the one that brought them both together. His copper red hair flowed along to the rhythm of the breeze, floating lightly to the side. His eyes were fixed on the beauty before him, looking at her doll-like face with both pity and wonder. The way she typed her words on the gadget made him think twice whether they should continue this conversation or not. The last thing he wanted to do, apart from driving the girl away for disturbing her peace moment alone, is to exhaust her. To others, it may not be a big deal since... well, a good conversation is the best to waste the free time in hands, but Leon was not among the others. He has lack confidence of himself that it was as tiny as a microorganism. No, maybe it was not even there.
Lucky, Dante came to the rescue. Before his mind was clogged with useless self-blaming thoughts, the older conscience spoke, "Say something, don't make woman waits."
Leon looked back at the girl and smiled even wider. He felt his cold ears turned warmer as he felt shy over what he was about to say. "I don't think folklore is just some fairy tales." He raised a leg up and placed front. He marched one step at a time, as if he was skipping along the path. His both hands slipped in his pants pockets, seeking refuge from the cold air of the night. "I think... the name matches well with you." He added, looking up shyly at her face and then raised his eyes a little further up. Leon muttered, "Like the sun, you sort of... I don't know... outshine the dark around us." Perhaps it was the moon but he doubted it was bright enough to lighten up the grayness around the gazebo. Maybe it was the moon's reflection too but thoroughly Leon believed it was her presence that made his eyes felt guided and not lost.
Dante snickered and commented, "My my, where does that come from?"
The young boy cupped his hands together and smiled shyly. He tilted his body front so he could see her better and spoke, "Yup. Ame. You do shine like the sun."
It was when he felt he was ready to move forward he heard the girl spoke. It was sudden, and unexpectedly captivating. His ears stood straight and his tail quickly whipped the air and formed an 's' shape. His eyes were wide in emerald, did not blink or even twitch a muscle when he heard a soft voice like an angel's song skipped from her mouth. It was soft and it soothed his heart. It was sad too, the words that lingered in the tone. Both Leon and Dante were at pause, not knowing what to say or what to do. They felt a sudden urge to simply walk and embrace her. Yes, it a so great that Leon could not ignore.
He paced through grassy ground and came closer to her. When he was about to reach a meter away from her, his hand abruptly raised up and held her left side face frame. Her skin was cold, and he could feel the warmth in his hand slipped into her skin. His eyebrows knitted lightly. He looked as if he was hurt by the words. Dante appeared beside them, watching the girl in the same painful gaze but remained to show a less emotional expression. He calmly murmured, "Please don't say that. You are not alone. I'm here, am I not?" He looked deep into the amethyst iris, seeking a place for him inside. He was not aware of what he was doing, but it felt good. He straightened his body posture and looked up when he saw one- no, the swamp of fireflies floated upwards from the bushes around them. He looked around, hand remained on her face, and let an awe huff. The fireflies appeared circling around them, like layers and layers of threads. His eyes were wide open, looking at the twinkling sight in before him.
Shine like the sun...she felt as if those words should have been spoken to her twin instead of her. She wasn’t... as cheerful. Nor does she have the bright light akin to the sun to be described as such. Those traits belonged to her twin. In fact the sisters are two different entities. She was more akin to the moon. Silent and observing rather than the warmth she could never emit. How could the child do so...when she’s far too closed off?
Too cold to warm even a match stick on a chilly spring morning. Her eyes followed his movement as he came closer to her. She should have been weary but nothing of the sort crossed her amethyst colored orbs. Nothing flicked through the doll-like expression. Stoic, emotionless, uncaring... nothing slipped past the frozen tundra that is the child... that was...
Until he spoke,
He was there?
A complete stranger that she met under a strange mix of circumstances, could say that to somehow he should have been either freaked out or left alone. But he didn’t do that... he didn’t do what she expected from his. From what she predicted he would do. For the first time that day...this boy has broken through her predictions effectively surprising her. A flash of surprise played upon her face. No sooner it was there she schooled it back to its normal expression. But a hint of curiosity managed to slip to, inquisitive eyes flashed up as she felt his hand touched her cold cheeks. She moved her head to look up at him and for that moment their eyes met again. It was like looking back into the past... she felt she saw these eyes before but for the life of her she couldn’t remember it.
Her throat fell dry words she wished to speak vanished within an instant. On the inside a tiny part of her, the sensible part wanted to push him away from her but the majority refused to listen instead she stood there looking at his pretty green eyes. His hands felt warmth... she liked how warm it was compare to hers. Then again...she wasn’t as healthy as she wished to be. “I-I guess...” Out of words for the first time her brain couldn’t rack up anything else to say. Speechless... for the first time she actually wished she knew what to say when before she would have just shut up and moved away. Her lips moved once again falling short when she saw the rising tiny orbs floating from the water. The fireflies circled around them as if dancing around the pair. A few floated past their faces as one stayed right in front of their view. She blinked quizzically unknowing on what to do in this kind of event. But something else hindered her from speaking when a strong gust of wind blew past them. Flicking at her skirt, a soundless gasp echoed from her lips as she held it down, but it was enough for part of her thigh to be revealed including the... marked that appeared on her skin all those years ago. ‘Voiceless’ clearly marked on her skin.
"This firefly... it brOUGHT us together... finally."
TAGS: @ame || NOTES: ///// WTF ARE YOU SAYING LEON. GAWD DAMNIT.
"Ne, Haine. Can you tell me... what it feels like... to be a true name bearer?"
Little Leon stood by his room door, looking at the back figure of the woman in long black coat. The jet black hair matched with the dark and mystery color of the coat so well he thought she was the goddess of death. Death- if she was a reaper, death did not seem to be a bad ending for him. His hand gently rubbed another arm, waiting for the older person to answer his question. It was almost 9 pm, when Nightshade officially opens and becomes alive. As for now, the building and its three floor compartments were as plain as any other closed bar slash day room hotels. Haine glanced up and over her small shoulders. The green eyes watched carefully as the female climbed back few steps she had stepped down so she could reach him. Such slender body figure yet with curves. Who would have thought this woman was strong and vicious in fighting for others' rights to continue living while hope seemed to have left them stranded alone, for example like little Leon.
She knelt down so she could see his face. Her eyes locked on to his and did not flinch even so a second. The pair of eyes was fearless and enchanting.
"A true name bearer?" She reconfirmed the topic of the evening. Leon nodded and shifted his body posture so he could lean against the wall instead of the door frame.
Haine did not smile- she never liked to- and moved little bit closer so she could crouch while leaning against the same wall and beside him. She closed her eyes and opened her mouth, trying her best to main her speaking pace as steady and understandable as possible.
"Being a true name bearer means to carry out the role being placed on you. Being a true name bearer also means to welcoming another person in your life, whether you like it or not. Being a true name bearer means to put trust on that person, as much as you would trust your own self. Being a true name bearer... means you are bound to the person, as fate has decided." She promptly answered.
Leon blinked as he watched her blank face over the topic. He looked down and up back at her, asking another question which caught her off guard. His eyes watched the female's face as he asked, "Do you... like what fate has decided you to become then? A true name bearer?"
The female looked at him, staring at his face for few seconds and then looked away. She muttered with ever such grim voice, "Being a true name bearer... means to be betrayed by fate... and being alone. I don't like it- not even once."
- - - x x x - - -
'Voiceless'. His chest and heart throbbed in pain but it was not painful. It was... a great feeling. Yes, for the first time the pain he felt was delightful. He took few steps back, astonished over the unexpected incident when he saw something on her thigh. If he was like any ordinary boy, he would either blush and turn or turn on and become a sick pervert, but unfortunately he was not that ordinary. His eyes retraced what was beneath the clothes with his thin eyebrows knitted slightly. His eyes became glossy. He was in the verge to cry.
"Leon... did you see..." Dante tried to speak but he himself was in shock. His narrowed eyes widened in disbelief. For years they were trying to be part of the world of true names and only six years ago they discovered their name was 'voiceless'.
Voice, the ability to be heard, to be known... to be noticed, ripped away from their grips and forever, spiraling them into a world of silence.
Leon felt his strength was slipping away. His knees were shaking and slowly he bent down, holding them with his hands. He huffed heavily. His eyes opened and closed simultaneously as he tried to calm down. He needed to calm the damn down. His copper red bang covered his face from the view and what remained visible was vague clouds of vapor escaping from his mouth.
"You are... you are... voiceless... are you? I... I found you... I finally found you..."
He gritted his teeth and looked up at her. His face was stirred in pain and relieved. His eyes squinted as his lips made a tiring smile. Does she know how long has it been? Being a true name bearer means to be tied to a person and if she was the one he has to tied to, he would not mind. He watched the fireflies and one of them began to fly lower and lower until it reached their eyes levels. Leon stood up, extended his hand out for it and let it landed on his index finger. His fingers curled ever so gently as he looked at it and said, "This firefly... it brought us together... finally."
He closed his eyes and reopened them after he found enough courage to speak. His free hand reached up to his chest, where his true name was located.
"I am voiceless, too, Ame, and I finally found you; my eternal life partner."
What’s a true name...to be paired with someone you have yet to meet. Someone that fate chosen for you in her game of matches. That’s what it meant. To be tied down to someone... fate deemed to be your eternal pair. Nothing can fight against fate unless you’re prepared to give up everything to defy her. To play... her everlasting game.
Onii-sama told her that... her caretaker voiced out every word of the explanation. Wording his view point in easy understandable terms, this was the meaning of it all. The tattoo... that signified the real her. To lose her voice... in all honesty she didn’t mind what her name entailed. It matched her, right down to the last letter. To how she acted in society. She was, an observer one that’s both consider part and not part of the human cycle.
She was the invisible soul standing by the sidelines patiently watching as the world quietly evolved without her presence. But... tonight’s events shook this belief. Shaking it right down to be core, the pieces disassembled, scattering itself on the floor as a broken down jigsaw puzzle she so desperately tried to build up once more.
What was it that he said?...
Partner? Eternal partner? Her eyebrow rose quizzically at his exclamation. There in front of her his legs shook till he had to kneel down, clutching his knees. His eyes closed and shut in a manner that nearly made her voice out her concerns. The world of battle...true pairings that to her meant only by the words in the dictionary, she truly... did not understand what kind of game fate was playing. Ame played with the goddess countless times before. It’s only this situation that truly did caught her off guard.
It was... not a pleasant feeling to be caught off guard...
DADUMP
DADUMP
Her heart skipped off a few rhythms, bouncing off the beats steadily drummed in her ears. She could feel the pounding... an unknown feeling washed over her like a torrent trying to sweep her away. What was it...excitement? No... she tried to identify it, scrunching her eyebrow unnoticeably as she tried to disconcert it. Nothing came to mind for the child... nothing no explanation reached up from within her overworked brain. She could tell... she was... happy? Relieved? A mixture of both perhaps... it was such a weird sensation she couldn’t identify. The winds died down slowly losing the motivation to blow them off into nothingness her clothes finally stopped bellowing to the point she could safely release her grip from her skirt. No need for the boy to see her underwear.. he already saw the marking on her thigh no doubt.
No doubt he saw it, was she...really that wanted? Or it was just the excitement of the moment? Whatever it was...she didn’t dare ask as he spoke again. This time lifting his hand over as a firefly landed on it. Glowing ever so flickering like a dimmed light from a candle, they were surrounded.
“....You’re my partner?” She voiced out... her voice a quiet whispery breeze that blew from her rose tinted lips. She looked up to him as he stood back on his feet. It was...like by instinct. Her body making its own decisions as she reached up to touch the crown of his head before petting it. He was much taller than her but she still was able to manage the task. Such a strange boy indeed...
"Your hands Ame; they are very... soft. I like them."

Was this a dream? Was this part of his imaginations? If it was, he wished not to wake up. This happened all too quick but he loved it very much. In the name fate has decided for him, he finally found a place beside someone; a place where he will be needed. His pale skin flushed red shade in color. His tail wagged excitedly and then curled up and over his abdomen. He was a bit shy with what he had stated. He was not even sure where the words came from. His eyes lingered aside, where an image of Dante was crouching down on the ground with one hand over his face.
"Shit, Leon. What are you? Twenty-first century Romeo? Damn it." He cussed annoyingly.
The boy frowned and shrunk himself little bit. Well, he was just as much embarrassed as him, you know. His eyes moved from looking at her eyes and face, to looking down on the pebble path as if it was the most interesting thing to stare at for now. Well, it was better than looking at her. He was not sure how she would react, but he just can't rejection. Perhaps his feelings did not reach her fully. Honestly, everyone would find it too surprising and weird. Who on Earth would believe a man who appeared in your life only few minutes ago is the one? No. The word he abruptly uttered was 'eternal life partner'. Oh God, he swore he felt like this was the best moment to drown himself in cold water.
“....You’re my partner?” Her voice rang like a chime from Heaven. It brought the young boy's attention fully that his ears were all standing and facing her. His tail loosened the wrap and began to wag gently. The emerald eyes looked at the girl from the top corner of his eyes. He did not dare to raise his head up to see her. He was afraid... of being rejected. Soft smile hung on his face as he tried best not to look so depressed about this. The scenery was all too perfect to even consider this was a reality. Like any other dreams he had, this was one of the impossible dreams. His eyes were closed, admitting defeat to the game played by the fate once again.
"Hey. Stop being so down. She didn't reject nor accept you yet." Dante replied. The older image of him appeared to be standing beside him with both his hands were clamping onto the jeans pockets. His eyes remained static on the girl, promptly waiting for her full and real reply. The fireflies had been circling around them for awhile before they vanished. Wind blew cold air and the boy shivered. How strange. He felt cold both inside and outside. It was as though the place where the name was located has been punched with a huge hole. He was ready to take a step back- no, he was still thinking if stepping back was a good idea. Perhaps he should just smile and like nothing had happened.
Yeah, that sounded just right.
He raised his face up and startled to see the girl was approaching him. Wow wow wow!
Dante was surprised but not as greatly astonished as Leon, who was the body host. His tail curled into a straight S and his eyes folded backward. What does she think she's doing? He shut his eyes tightly and froze stiff. Something pressed his hair and his head, but it was gentle and small. He remained silent as his hair was ruffled. He had similar experience before, but it lead to horrible memories that made Dante forced himself in control to save him. Client's always right, they said and so kicking them on their faces was definitely a horrible mistake. It was not like Dante could talk things through. They used excuses like- how they spent their money on him and how he should be grateful he was paid and fed well for their sake. As if! Dante trembled in anger as he listened to the mocks. Apologetic Leon has no words used to defend himself. Like an obedient and leashed puppy, he admitted his mistake and offered an extra night with the client, who was content with his submissiveness the next night.
He tried not to cry as he remembered the memories from the nights in the brothel. He didn't ask for it! He was forced to!
Such a strange boy indeed... It was as though he could hear someone said it. Perhaps he was imagining things but the voice sounded like hers. Leon purred lightly under his both and closed lips, frowning. His eyes that were shut closed tightly were glossy with tears he was sucking in. Dante sighed at the pathetic sight. Honestly, how old does he think he is? Things that happened he should not cried for them now. But then again, Leon remained Leon, the 'little brother' he has to protect. A smile crept it faintly on Dante's face; a manifestation of the joy Leon was feeling at the moment. The emerald eyes revealed themselves. He smiled and spoke, "Your hands Ame; they are very... soft. I like them." He brought his hands up and placed them on top of the girl's. Like a little boy he chuckled in satisfaction.
He was not that happy about her not giving a solid answer but this was enough. Yes. It was enough, all right.
Imaginations, reality nothing seeming separating the two planes anymore whatever remained of the thin veil that separated those two entities ceased to exist leaving behind a chaotic mix of dreams and the true world. No one can tell which one is which anymore...this was realist nightmare. To not be able to tell if this was real or fiction, not even in her wildest dreams did she expect this. The girl never expected much from the world.
Other than the echoing silence she lived with for the first ten years of her life. Maya was there for her to fully ignore the lingering desire to form a bond with someone from the outside world. The desire to reach out... the childish dream of reaching for that far away hand to grasp, that time...she could ignore the yearnings every human being screamed for.
But now that her sword and shield was gone... the desire once more emerged stronger than ever to the point that the only way to fully suppressed it was to be. A physical and proverbial doll she now is. The soft draft of the night air blew through the gazebo signaling to the two of the time of night. Skies above them littered with the twinkling stars over the horizons pale grey clouds circled around the moon like a thin blanket covering the ethereal orb from sight. From cooling grass crickets whistled their tunes along with small frags that inhabited the swampy waters.
There were no one else around them... just the two of them and the diminishing fireflies, floating in the air as they slowly drifted into nothingness, pale amethyst colored eyes watched the scene that played before her. Sadness clotted the boy’s form, rising from him like a black fog. Did she say something wrong? His eyes casted down, refusing to look back her way instead it turned to the cobbled stone path that led back to civilization. She made a note to study human psyche once more...
This was far too confusing to the young introvert.
Her hand continued to linger upon his reddish crown, brushing through the soft silken locks with such gentleness the child could muster. It felt soft to the touch... but why was he so sad.... then again? She rethought that sentence. When on earth did she began to care about others? This night was truly confusing... Was he waiting for something from her?
This was her first time dealing with these things... but the look his eyes gave her, her ears twitched a bit pure while with a ribbon hanging loosely on the right ear. And then he began to speak, complimenting how soft her hand was as she continuously petted him. “Mhhm...” She hummed softly, still in the same airy tone... unheard by the rest of the world.
“You’re a strange one...” She mused, a faint gleamed of amusement sparked from those dead eyes. The boy was pulling strings she didn’t know she had. Which to be honest... was not something she knew what to do with. “Little kitten.” She tilted her head, her tail swung back with a hint of mirth. She turned back to the lake, watching as the moon rays glowed upon her light colored irises. She didn’t speak for what seemed like a few minutes before she uttered two words.
"Ame, I hate to say this but... will you come with me for awhile?"

I accept...
Leon blinked few times and turned his head to see her immediately after he realized what the words she had uttered meant. The copper red hair boy opened his mouth and wanted to say something but he paused. Wait, what should he say then? His eyes lingered from Ame's doll-like face over the grassy scenery before him. For the first time, he felt he was safe. He felt he will not be neglected anymore and be accepted for who he is. Gentle hand was still running on his hair that he loved it so much he would not mind not moving at all. It felt good, honestly. He held her hand and brought it down simultaneously with him pulling himself behind a little bit to give themselves some space to stand. Even with the dark of the night in the garden appeared not to be penetrable, the olivine eyes continued to seek for the light in front of him. It was not moon, but Ame. She will be his new light from now on.
It was then few coughed heard from behind, where Dante was standing with his back facing his. Time somewhat stopped momentarily as he found the surrounding slowly dispersed into darkness. The darkness then slowly vanished, being replaced with images of furniture and fixtures from his old room. Ah, how nostalgic this place was. Was this the first time he met his 'older brother'? Leon smiled calmly and looked behind for Dante, who was huffing the cold air in the room.
"Y'know, I never like this whole true name thing. It's disgusting." He exclaimed with his thin brows knitted. Leon chuckled and shook his head. Well, he can't blame him. Dante existed simply to break himself from the suffocating life as the son of Albion. Leon tilted his head to the left and glanced over the shoulder for the other him. "Ne, Dante. Don't you think we finally become what father has hoped us to become?" Dante scoffed.
"What? A womanizer?" "Dante!"
Dante laughed loudly and vanished. The surrounding became to change and slowly he was brought back to the reality. His eyes were closed and opened. He was relieved to see the girl was still there. So this was not a dream after all. This girl, Amaterasu, is his own partner. He chuckled and muttered, "Little kitten... I like that." He will become her little kitten. He will follow her everywhere she is, definitely. He will have her figure in his sight every second, no doubt. But then, he realized it may not be possible because of one particular adult.
Leon's face turned pale. Dante whistled, "Yikes, she'll bite us if she knows we are out here." He remembered about Haine out of the blue and started to make a frightened face. You see, even after he has found his 'master', he still bound to Haine who has been watching over him for years now. The back of the lady has been the only thing he tried to reach for, and the only thing that helped him to stand up and break a run. Leon turned to Amaterasu and smirked, "Ame, I hate to say this but... will you come with me for awhile?" He knew it was impolite for him to rush things but having Haine know he has found his partner meant a lot to him. Besides, he has no idea whether he was a Fighter or a Sacrifice. Haine did explain things to him but he was just too naive to get a clue from her long lecture since he had no partner yet at that time.
‘Onee-chan...’ A girl no older than eight looked up at the exact copy of hers. Long radiant white hair flowed like silk splayed through the grass in thin strands. Birds chirped through the memory sequence. Little tweets that formed as their songs as the creatures flew overhead the sun beaded down from above them. Shielded by the thin leaves of the tall oak they laid under in. It was one of those rare moments where her sister managed to sneak her out of the manor. Both hadn’t had much time then before her sister would have to bring her back before the household noticed.
“Hmm?” Her copy answered, turning the same amethyst orbs right to her direction within those eyes the familiar spark of mischief gleamed mixed with it was the mirth that followed her older twin wherever the girl went. “What’s...the outside world like?...”
Xxx
Why... of all times did she have to remember that conversation, the recollection brought back something she thought she would never feel, the same sensation she tried senselessly to block from her system and failed. Loneliness, wonderment...whichever one of the two. The real world that seemed so far from her grasped was the same thing she now stood in but at what price...? She held back a mental chuckle. Musing slightly at how ironic it was that it was her standing in this place instead of the shadows that had been her caretaker for years.
That sounded... depressive.
The silverette’s hand didn’t move from the boy as she mulled over her the thoughts skimming through her head. Wasn’t this too fast? Accepting something she barely knew about. While it’s true she’s no stranger to the world of the true pairs it was having her own that boggled her. She was used to fighting alone...she was taught to fight alone since she hadn’t met her partner yet. Adapting to another way was going to take some serious work on her behalf. Did she mind? Nothing in the child’s blank expression spoke otherwise. She figured it was easier to just accept and suck up these kinds of things. There’s no use to argue and waste precious seconds for something so trivial. Her eyes wondered back to the content boy. Sweet purrs escaped from his throat, reaching into her ears the girl couldn’t help but think of it as....cute?
My lord...
She blinked, wondering if she really did think that.
This boy...was unravelling something in her, it was... clearly pounding into the granite walls she built up for herself. Maybe she should have used steel... steel or obsidian would have been better. But there was no escaping now. She was here, she already let her words go. And when she did... there was no way of taking it back.
A chill sweep through the calming winds, blowing through her skin leaving its icy touch of the jacketless young female the faint whispers that echoed in her mind was broken by the voice of the boy. She blinked yet again drafting her attention over the auburn head. His question...actually incited an eyebrow to raise on her behalf. Go where? She thought to ask.
“Go where?...” Her head tilted quizzically, eyeing the boy with a mixture of confusion and...hesitation. Her guardians were going to flip bricks if they returned home and she wasn’t there. Oh well, they know she tends to take nightly walks...whenever there isn’t anyone out.
"I am not supposed to be out here, but here I am. So... well, I was hoping I could bring you back..."

It was only few days ago the older woman told him not to leave out of her sight. He became a Rapunzel in his mind when the lovely cold Haine literally locked him in his room while grumbled from outside saying how he has no idea about the danger awaited for him outside. Dante understood clearly the woman's order and he had never once disobeyed her. Guess who wrecked the female's nerves? Leon. Like a little red riding hood, he made the decision to head out for the gazebo blindly- just because he was worried of a single living firefly that no one could see but them! Dante leaned against the gazebo's pillar as he watched Leon and that girl got all lovey dovey without playing him even a glance. Honestly, he can't wait to hear the older female roar right at his face.
No. He doubted he will be the one to face her.
Heavy sigh escaped from Dante before Leon's voice rang in the mind. His eyes averted from glowing flowers in the darkness of the garden to the copper red hair.
"Ah. Well... you see... Ame, I actually... um..." He was not sure how to put this thought in words. He was afraid how awkward it would sound, and she will get a wrong idea about it. He has no clue about herself, apart from her name was Amaterasu and she was his Fighter. He wanted her to be part of his life- no, not just part but whole of his life. He wanted her to know from A to Z about himself, about Dante and about the situation he was tangled in. The boy rubbed the back of his ear along with the thought of how embarrassed this was. To tell the truth, she was the first girl he ever tried to approach willingly.
He never considered Haine a girl, no. She was more like an older-sister and for the record, she approached him, not another way around.
The boy fidgeted little bit as he tried to mentally construct the words that seemed to be floating in the void compartment of his brain. Looking up at the moon he continued speaking, "I am not supposed to be out here, but here I am. So... well, I was hoping I could bring you back..." Leon wanted Haine to meet her and to have her explain his situation to Ame. He has always asleep when Haine was having a conversation with Dante, apparently. It was as though the two of them wanted to keep him oblivious of what was going on. It was a bit a unfair, you know, considering Leon was the dominant one. Yet, his dominance matched with nothing when it comes to taking actions for his own life. He was not brave enough to stand for what he wanted and what he felt right for himself.
"But of course, I'll send you back! I mean... I don't want your old man worried about you..." He felt his cheek was turning red when he imagined the situation sounded as if they were looping. Dante interfered, confirming that that such situation will never happen. "Dream on, boy. As if I'll let you do that kind of stupid things, especially with this girl." He scowled and closed his emerald eyes. Leon frowned lightly before he smirked.
"It's cold isn't it?" He said, half was referring to Dante and another half was referring to the cold of the night. He snuggled in his jacket, shaking his body lightly like a little puppy- no, like a little kitten trying to bristle his fur to trap warmth. His eyes fixed on the girl and slowly, he took off his jacket. "Ah, you must have felt even colder since you don't have an outerwear on." He glomped lightly to her side and widened his arm behind her with the jacket. She was so small. Her shoulders were so small and she looked very timid from behind. Leon blushed again as he whispered, "May I?" He would like her to wear the jacket, but it would be impolite to force her to wear it. So he asked, with high hope she will accept his offer.
LOL so cute though... fidgeting like a shy little boy <3

And neither was she... funny how fate could be trickters at a time like this. Oh wait... let her rephrase that. When was it that the infamous lady stopped playing tricks on unsuspecting victims? That Amaterasu found hard to believe the goddess would stop. The girl played toe to toe with the goddess far too many times that in her mind fate began holding a grudge against her.
If so... it must have started when she was a child for the demented princess to... veer her life into this direction. Again, she took it all astride in silence just as she took everything else without a voice of complaint. Voiceless really did suit her...right down to every cell the silverette possessed in her body.
The Ushiromiya heir could see it now, the displeased painted with a skilled art brush upon her faces while the older red head will turn to one of his lectures about her wandering outside in the dead of night of how unbecoming of a lady to do that. She would nod, mutely stating the apology and let the night go.
As far as she could remember...this was one of those rare times she felt the urge to leave the home for a few quick grasps of fresh sea breeze. What she didn’t expect was for this excursion to their into a meeting she least expected, what she didn’t expect was for the few minutes she planned spurred into a few hours. As if being led here by one of fate’s minions, dancing in front of her while leading her by the hand...
That’s it...and like a mouse being entranced by the piper’s melody she followed blindly. Which... led her into this situation, the young fightress, she knew herself to be a fighter as she managed to brew her own spells during the days her caretakers would lecture her about this world. She continued to eye the boy fidgeting with the words to say. Her question still left unanswered it seems. It only further raised the inquisitive brow on the child’s forehead.
Such a confusing boy...
Noted the younger female, the light of the moon bathed their form rays of pale light illuminated through the still cool waters. Sparkling as the light continuously danced on the surface. It reflected the moon above them like a natural mirror.
Her musings were rattled by the boy’s sudden movement, she hadn’t caught it so it jostled the child’s attention back to the boy. Head swerved back from the vision of the calming lake to the fidgeting from of the boy in front of her as he closed in the gap between them. He was right though. Bringing a hand to touch her arm she barely noticed the coldness biting through her skin. She was cold... she hadn’t thought about fetching a jacket for a few minute walk she originally thought. Never in her mind did she thought it would led her here... she held down a shiver, refusing for the boy to noticed her plight.
Well that was till, he shed off the jacket from his slender. The girl paused, unknowing how to react or even the words that should be said when he offered the jacket to her direction. His words entered her ears, the explanation that revealed how he was in the same plight as she was when it comes to being indoors. Oh my... this was not going to end well for both parental figures if they catch wind of this.
Apparently she couldn’t stall anymore, the boy needed an answer, she nodded slowly at his request. Finding no true reason to decline the gesture, “It’s cold as well... though...dont you need it more than I do?” Queried the child. “As for the first one... I don’t particularly leave my home for an extended time like this but sure... I’ll go... I have a few hours before my parents come back from their work.” Ah... she pronounced it well the cover story that her guardians told her.
