Hello, everyone! after dealing with real life and the other nonsense of living, panny and i have decided to bring back war of change. give a round of applause. we’ve worked through all of the information and hopefully improved coherency and cohesion; however, tell us if we missed something. eventually, we’ll announce an event to celebrate the re-opening, so look out for information on that. -RAIDNE, THE HEAD ADMIN
From the moonless night, screams of terror and fear resound, spreading across the world and infecting the masses; however, those sleepless nights occurred years ago. A new era began with the fires of war, and with no end in sight, the residents of Selene Isle trudge through life, basking in the momentary peace. Despite their prayers for continued monotony and peace, a storm brews, stirred to life by the continued presence of Rapture and Wraith. And as we set our sights on the seemingly peace laden isle, we must ask: how shall this tale end?
As the years passed, the number of true pairs increased; however, they continued to live in the shadows, catering to the whims of the mundane. Seven Moons kept watch over them all, instructing them and assisting them, but for many, the attitudes and ideals of the organization were smoldering, suffocating. With Seven Moons and the mundanes, they could not grasp the freedom, the power dangling before their eyes. In the beginning, rebellion was a dream, a fantasy, a figment—developed by the repressed and carried forward due to the nature of humanity. No one expected the call to sound, and no one expected the call to be answered. However, it happened.

Leg crossed over another. Body leaned back against the cafe chair. Finger wrapped firmly around the white cup of hot chocolate.
Her presence was not noticeable as she took her place- her very own favorite spot in the cafe- was further end on the right facing outside of the cafe. One ear was plugged with black earphone as her eyes were focusing on the reading material in front of her. She was about to reach the part where the hero had planned a counterattack and was on his move to the place where the antagonist was keeping the heroine and a jewel called Summer's Light in Korean. There were three jewels in total, but this would be the first appearance of any of the jewels. In the story, the heroine was the last maiden with power to revoke the sacred treasures' divine power.
She huffed as she raised the cup close to her and placed its tip on her lip. She took a sip without batting an eye to see if she was drinking it right. Her concentration was fully on the novel whose authorial was her own mother.
The spot was one of the few she would call 'blind spots' in the cafe, where sitting there made you feel safe and secure from being stared. Only on certain occasions her head would peek over the divider wall and she would raise one hand to call one of the waiters or waitresses available to assist her with adding order or billing. She was fond of Cafe Mystique's concept and design and was seen quite frequently hanging here while the day was still bright. The dishes were delicious and the employees were very cute. There was another reason why she enjoyed and able to spend a peaceful evening here.
Hae-Sun got up and placed the book facing the cafe table. She wore light blue sleeveless top with mild ruffles underneath black long-sleeved cardigan. Her black skinny jeans hugged and emphasized her tall and model-like figure. Min-Yung's children were all gifted with beauty and chance to become a star like their father, but Hae-Sun was not interested in it. She approached the cafe, leaning one side of her side onto the counter and has one leg crossed in front of anther leg. The arm on the leaned side of the body rested on the counter while another hand careful creased her jeans for a pocket.
"Excuse me, has Laney arrived?" She asked with her silvery eyes lingered around the cafe before turning back to the one of the employees. Laney, or Delaney, was one of the few she would call early acquaintance in this island. Though the female was five years younger than her, she never considered it as a boundary to become close to her. Hae-Sun has high respect over people who are independent and so she respected her for living her life at her own pace. However, certain things she could not allow herself to agree with her...
Since she was a Wraith and Hae-Sun was a Rapture.
Still, the female treated her nothing more than a beneficial friend and acted all neutral. There was no need to get all fired up just because she was in the opposite group, you know. Besides, Hae-Sun was not the type to blindly swing her blade around. It involved too much work and effort. She shifted her body and rested her back against the counter instead. She reached out for her phone and started dialing the girl's number. She has not pressed the green button for calling yet, wondering if she could just call or wait for few more minutes.
Each and every morning had to run in the same fashion for Laney. With the exception of a few, rather simply fixed changes, there was a sinking feeling that if she changed her routine too drastically, however, her entire day would end up compromised.
Unfortunately, this morning was no different to that rule. After eating a quick breakfast and bidding her dear Monty goodbye, Laney was out the door and locking her apartment up. She'd made a silent prayer to any god that could have been out there to keep Monty safe and from prying eyes before taking a deep breath and turning on her heel.
One hour before work and Laney was standing in line at some run of the mill coffee shop. Fifty minutes before work and she was being handed her coffee, bidding the barista a good day and going on her way. At that point, she had enough time to happily waste by wandering closer and closer to Cafe Mystique, her own shift ticking closer. To be honest, there was a certain pulling that made her walk faster than normal, sip her coffee between every three steps versus the usual ten. A few particular things that if she wasn't paying attention, she might have missed over it.
Having reached her destination in record timing, Laney shot a few of her friends a bright grin before downing the rest of her coffee. As long as she wasn't asleep on her feet, she figured she'd be fine -- or at least, until a familiar bob of black hair caught her sight, and suddenly Laney was extremely grateful about arriving a solid thirty minutes before her scheduled shift. Even then, she figured she'd have a few extra minutes irregardless, considering how diligent she usually was, meeting up with an old friend wouldn't count too much against her.
Laney really hoped she hadn't left Haine waiting for too long.
"Haine! Looking stylish as ever." Dawning a bright smile, the blonde made her way over, and she didn't spare a moment between letting her presence be known. Rapture or not, Laney refused to let petty gang affiliations keep her from befriending who she wanted to, Hae-sun being quite possibly her closest friend. Whether Laney planned for it or not, the smile on her face was genuine as she rocked on her heels for a brief moment, the caffeine making her feel more jittery than normal.
"To what do I owe the pleasure?" She meant it with both parts genuine curiosity and happiness. If Haine needed to talk before work, then Laney was all ears considering the other deemed it important enough for having to whittle out a chunk of time.
"Seriously, are you trying to say I am allowed to meet you only when I need something from you? You are my friend, not a counselor."

The story of their friendship has started earlier than of her love with Eira. The bond that ceased to exist has grown deeper and stronger after they had gone through many ups and downs together. To Hae-Sun, Delaney was not just a friend. She was the replacement of a sister, who has abandoned here and she has always yearned for. There were times she would spend a night in her apartment because she was not feeling well. No, it was more like she suffered a same horrible nightmare, again and again, she could not possibly utter to the blonde girl.
It was dark and cold. Her face, hands and stomach were damped with red crimson color. She tried to breathe but she can't; stench smell of blood lingered in the air that made her feel sick. And went she tried to step back, her leg stumbled onto something and she fell. She tried to move and suddenly hands began to appear from the dark and grabbed a hold of her. She struggled to be freed and before she knew it, bodies of people she knew were lying on the ground.
Terror woke her up but she did not scream. She only felt her body heat has slipped away from her.
Since that dream, she barely could sleep and decided to patrol more frequent than the usual. She was fine with losing sleep a night or two but when she felt too tired but scared of the same nightmare, she would stop by Laney's place and asked if she was allowed to stay for a night. At first she thought it was simply a dream born from her hatred over Wraith but she realized among the bodies that laid stiff on the pitch black ground...
there were bodies of those from Wraith she knew.
Hae-Sun raised her head up and turned behind when a familiar voice was heard mentioning her name and greeted her. A grin pierced over her smile as she watched the female made her grand entry into the cafe. Watching how this girl walked and how her blonde hair bounced to the hyper beat made the female laughed lightly with her head turning aside and away from her sight. She could guess she drank too much caffeine again that made her all bubbly. But then again, bubbly Laney has always been bubbly and that was a relief. She casually hung her head up and glanced down over her appearance with a playful sneer. "And you look as cheeky as usual. Careful there, I'm not responsible if you suddenly trip or anything," she said jokingly jinxed her since she was too hyper that she seemed so vulnerable with recklessness.
"Oh," she huffed, closing her eyes and lightly shook her head. There she goes again. She really need to stop treating her like any of her customer. The overly-polite and sweet chatter of inquiring things really made Hae-Sun shuddered. She peeked an eye to see her and scowled in light annoyance due to her way of approaching her. "Seriously, are you trying to say I am allowed to meet you only when I need something from you? You are my friend, not a counselor." Her words sounded like a dagger ready to stab but do realize the dagger was too blunt to pierce through anything. Laney was this type of person, she knew that since the first years they became friends. She has always been polite and sweet, unlike her. Guess opposites do attract. The female pushed herself off the counter and stood on her own legs. She continued, "But then again, I was not looking for you. I was simply satisfying my hunger over some delicious cakes in the cafe." She made an arrogant Madam Moselle pose with her head leaned to her shoulder and chinned up. It was part of her way to tease Laney, though it was like she has any sense of humor to begin with.
When Laney was six years old, she got into her first fist fight. Well, actually, calling it a fight would have implied that both parties had an equal chance of winning. Unfortunately for six-year-old Delaney Rhodes, going up against a certain Travis Bucksworth (a pompous name for a pompous ass, that was what grandmother always said) was about the same as a kitten going up against a fully grown rottweiler. If, by some chance, he wasn't at least four years older than her and didn't weigh about the same as a small buffalo, she might have had something of a chance.
Instead, little Delaney made her way home with a black eye, a few cuts and bruises, but most importantly of all a big grin. Despite her losing the technical battle, Delaney felt like she had won a war that day. Travis was the big bully of her six-year-old life, and since that day he'd never so much as looked at her wrong again. However, her parents made it rather clear that they didn't approve of this 'new, unladylike' attitude, and that became the downfall of her happier days.
Or, that was how Laney liked to imagine it.
Standing next to Haine in the cafe, she felt reminded by that moment, but not because Haine was a bully. Instead, the rush of caffeine from coffee simply acted as almost a substitute for the adrenaline of getting into a really good fight. At the other's remark, Laney let out a giggle, before shooting a playful pout in the same direction. Leave it to Haine to leave a bright grin on Laney's face, her already bright mood only spiralling upwards.
Briefly, she wondered if the phrase the sky is the limit would have been the same with a mood, but Laney wasn't too certain.
"Of course not!" Shaking her head, Laney opted to elaborate, or at least elaborate as much as she could. "Like you said, friends. I'd be a terrible counselor, honestly." Terribly blunt, walking around like a lit match next to a bomb. Sometimes she wondered how people like Haine didn't hate her already, but then again, she wasn't about to look a gift horse in the mouth. Except Haine was more of a majestic stallion than a gift horse, but the phrase stood either way.
"Mind if I sit with you, at least?" Blow off some of the steam the coffee was giving her, maybe nibble on a pastry if she could manage to squeeze that in. Plus, it wasn't like Haine was about to say no, Laney knew that. She'd be concerned if she'd known so little about someone she'd known for so long.
Another fit of giggles, Laney shaking her head a little before motioning for Haine to follow, leading them to a small table off to the side. "So, how's it going in the life of Haine?"
Ah, the question made the Korean female raised her head up a bit and looked away. So, was this the reason she decided to bring her away from the counter and from the sight of the public? No, she was guessing she called her so they could resume back to her table. With the cup of newly brewed coffee in the blonde's hand, Hae-Sun watched as warm steam escaped from the liquid. Should she answer her day life, or her night life? Should she tell her the truth, partial truth or a complete lie? It was a challenge for her to have a best friend who knew her second life, that is as a Rapture, who was also from the opposition group. She rested her elbow on the table and sighed. One thing for sure; Laney would not appreciate if she was trying to lie her way with her. Or at least Hae-Sun won't, if she was in her shoes.
She wanted their friendship to be on the basis of trust and tolerance for one another. Her eyes scrolled down to the table when she murmured, "Complicated."
The cafe was a full house like usual. The smell of fresh pastries and caffeine occupied the air, tempting anyone who passes by to stop by and take a peek on what was on store. Kids, teenagers, elders, men and women; everyone appreciated the delicious smell from Cafe Mystique. That included a wild vulpine like her. She inhaled the aromatic scent of buns, finding it as worth to drool for experience. She licked lips in response to the smell and gave her female friend a good look. Back to the topic.
"I... met Eira few nights ago."
Fingers tapped twice on the table and that was it. Surely, Laney knew what was going on with her personal life. She was the only friends she has on this island, the only one she could share girly secrets with and the only person who knew the burden she has to carry. Her eyes were half-closed as she continued, "You can expect how it turned out." She rubbed her eyes and leaned back against her chair. Heavy huff escaped from her nose.
@demo01 OOC: -paws you- You need to be a better bestie dem~~ XDD

Complicated seemed like a good word to use in regards to her friend. It was a very Haine word, now that Laney thought about it a bit. Their friendship was rather complicated, considering that they were members of two very different gangs. In a way, though, it was one of the reasons why Laney found that she held her friend in such high regards, because of the way that she was able to set aside their differences and get along. But then again, there wasn't much of anyone else Laney would rather share any of her own gossip to, or anyone she'd rather hear it from. Haine seemed to be an exception to most of her rules, to be honest.
It was the scent of pastries and caffeine that drew her in when she first came across Cafe Mystique. It was a bustling place three years ago, and the popularity of it hadn't lowered in the slightest, but Laney very distinctly remembered being drawn to the cafe by the intoxicating smell. Even sitting in her favorite table with Haine, the scent continued to be something that Laney could pick apart and relish in. Eventually, it led to her turning in an application, and she couldn't say that she could have easily associated any other scent with the homely feeling that Mystique gave her. Somehow, even just walking past on her days off, she'd stop in to pick up a small cookie or something just to get a dose of her addiction.
When the words finally registered -- and truthfully, it took a moment -- Laney wished they could have been taken back. She would have reached a hand out, to pat comfortingly against Haine's arm, but her friend leaned back. So, instead she decided to go with a small frown, as Laney thought about her words semi-carefully. "You know, I could easily kick some sense into him if need be." A little detour during the next meeting, Laney could easily corner her associate and make sure he knew exactly what he was doing. "Probably shouldn't be telling me these things if you weren't somehow trying to convince me to rough him up a little anyway." She was joking, of course, but there was some level of sincerity to it. Simply put, Haine was her best friend, and Laney was going to be damned before she let anyone hurt her best friend -- emotionally or otherwise.
"I'm sorry, though, Haine. He's an idiot who doesn't know what he's letting go, and he should feel bad." What she said was genuine, Laney meaning every word that she spoke to Haine. Eira was an idiot, and although she kept quite a few choice words to herself, she silently vowed to give him a firm speaking to later on. It wasn't like it'd be any different from any normal conversation between the two, except maybe more fueled by her own distaste.
"Thanks, Laney. I know you will stand up for me whenever I need you to."
If it was not because of her father inherited the nightclub to her, she would have followed her best friend and applied a job here. I mean, who doesn't like being surrounded with aromatic scents of pastries and caffeine? Even a fox would not mind to beg every strand of her fur for a second in this cafe. The smell calmed her a bit, both physically and emotionally. She was tired. She knew there were others in the rank and they were as good or even batter than her, but she felt every burden should be carried and only to be carried by her. She trusted others to take over when her mother began to command an order for her to stay down. She was worried about her, really, and she has no idea her daughter was once in a relationship with a Wraith- a Wraith elite, to be exact.
"Ugh, I feel like I just buried my head under the sand!" she scowled. For once she thought she could turn the time and be an ordinary girl. For once, she thought she had not decided to become a Rapture like her parents. Why did she agree to the idea of becoming Rapture? Rika. That's right. Her real reason of becoming one of the leaders of the group was none other than her sister, Rika. The thrill, the excitement and the danger kept her remembering the existence of the female in her life and to find her even if she was a cruel one to leave her all alone here in this island. She brought herself back to the table and sighed. Empty chuckles had escaped from her mouth before she said, "Thanks, Laney. I know you will stand up for me whenever I need you to." She closed her eyes for a few seconds as she raised her cup and took a sip of the brewed drink. She put it down and revealed silvery blue eyes for the blonde to see. A smile curved on her lips. She leaned her head onto her hand and with a cunning grin, she said, "But please make sure he is left alive. He is one of Wraith's precious assets, not that I don't know about it." Her body fixed its posture and she rested both hands on the table, laughing lightly.
The story of Eira and her was not a new story to Laney or to other older members of Wraith. They knew about her- about the fox that they accused to have stirred up the assassin's heart like a toy. What they did not know was the assassin stirred her heart too, and it was beyond repairable. Despite they had break up, some of the Wraith members continued to live on as someone previous to her. She bear no grudge on Wraith, or maybe just a bit- no, a lot, on Wraith. She hated the existence of the group, not the people in it. "What about you? How's the lovely Monty doing?" she asked, trying to start a new conversation. She has a lot to tell about her, but what's the rush?
