Wordspell battle occurs in a place, one step away from normal reality where spells cast become alive. A barrier is cast automatically the moment two parties accept challenge for a duel. You may say the barrier provides a different dimension whereby whatever happens inside and during the duel will not affect real-time. All the destruction, the damages and the disruption- they all will disappear as soon as the battle ends. Therefore, you don't have to hold back yourself and just give your all in the battle without worrying how much about the cost to fix everything.

However, bear in mind that this does not work the same on the true pairs. If it so happens your dear sacrifice is being cut open, then the cut will remain as real as it is after the battle. Untrained true pairs will assume that everything in the battle is just temporary, but it's wrong. The pain sensations and physical injuries do remain even after the barrier has been lifted. Why is that? Don't ask me. It's like asking why virgins have tail and ears.
