HISTORY & EXTRA INFO
Rosaline was born on October 25th, 1991. As her parents were known as one of the most exceptional pairs that Septimal Moon had ever trained, it was no surprise that she would be selected for the Zero Project. Though they were initially uncomfortable with the idea, her parents seemed to come around to it soon enough. However, in truth, they were simply biding their time. The massacre within the halls of the Academy allowed them the perfect opportunity to slip away with their child, and return to the place they called home, a mansion in the Austrian countryside, close to the foot of the Alps. Despite being Zero from birth, and despite growing up as a rather wealthy girl, Rosaline’s childhood was really rather unremarkable. She attended a private Catholic girls’ school, and though she knew that her parents loved her dearly, she never had much of a chance to connect with them.
Though she appeared aloof at times, once one got to know her, Rosaline was a very warm, friendly girl, and though she didn’t have a large social circle, she had a small group of close friends. As far as her education went, she passed most of her classes with respectable grades, but in music and literature, she excelled. From a young age, the written words in books and on paper called to her, and music seemed to fill some void in her soul she could never quite name the cause of. Despite their affiliation with and ties to the Church, her parents were never upset by her sexuality; in fact, they introduced her to her first girlfriend around her fifteenth birthday, the daughter of one of their business partners, Isobel Fernandez Carriedo. (They had already been friends, as their schools were sister establishments, but had only known each other through letters previously.) The two hit it off right away, bonding through their loves of music and writing; Isobel loved to write poetry, while fiction and fantasy has always called to Rosaline.
Though Isobel was the more mischievous of the two, Rosaline almost always willingly wet along with her girlfriend’s schemes, and was often just as willing to talk their way out of trouble after ward. However, despite how close they were, they quickly found that their spark extended only to deep friendship, and broke things off amicably after two years. Shortly after graduation one year later, Rosaline met her first boyfriend, Daniel Héderváry. Their relationship was the opposite of what hers had been with Isobel. They seemed very compatible sexually, but outside of intimacy, their relationship sort of fell flat, as Rosaline refused to be protected and treated like glass, even though she had been raised to behave like a lady. (Despite their sexual compatibility, Rosaline continued to deny Daniel’s requests to sleep with her, just as she had done with Isobel. She couldn’t put her finger on why, but it never felt right with either of them.)
Their relationship lasted less than a year, and was unceremoniously ended, following a fight concerning Rosaline’s inability to feel pain, during which Daniel called her many insulting things, including but not limited to “defective,” and “a freak.” Concerned and furious in the same breath, Rosaline demanded an explanation from her parents, and before she knew it, she had been sucked into the world of Septimal Moon and her destiny as a Zero. Training as a Fighter and attending university to receive degrees in music and education may have seemed like a mutually exclusive thing, but thanks to her ability to take classes online, Rosaline had her degrees in short order. Though one might not have expected it, she had quickly become attached to her Sacrifice, and even if she was still uncomfortable with following orders, she hoped that they would be able to truly bond someday soon.
