Hello, everyone! after dealing with real life and the other nonsense of living, panny and i have decided to bring back war of change. give a round of applause. we’ve worked through all of the information and hopefully improved coherency and cohesion; however, tell us if we missed something. eventually, we’ll announce an event to celebrate the re-opening, so look out for information on that. -RAIDNE, THE HEAD ADMIN
From the moonless night, screams of terror and fear resound, spreading across the world and infecting the masses; however, those sleepless nights occurred years ago. A new era began with the fires of war, and with no end in sight, the residents of Selene Isle trudge through life, basking in the momentary peace. Despite their prayers for continued monotony and peace, a storm brews, stirred to life by the continued presence of Rapture and Wraith. And as we set our sights on the seemingly peace laden isle, we must ask: how shall this tale end?
As the years passed, the number of true pairs increased; however, they continued to live in the shadows, catering to the whims of the mundane. Seven Moons kept watch over them all, instructing them and assisting them, but for many, the attitudes and ideals of the organization were smoldering, suffocating. With Seven Moons and the mundanes, they could not grasp the freedom, the power dangling before their eyes. In the beginning, rebellion was a dream, a fantasy, a figment—developed by the repressed and carried forward due to the nature of humanity. No one expected the call to sound, and no one expected the call to be answered. However, it happened.
In recent weeks, much to the discomfort of the local residence, Kuu Park had become significantly less family friendly.
It wasn't that it was any more dangerous than before; stupid kids still fell down and broke their legs and lost their sandwiches, sure, but there was no more physical harm coming to people than had been before. Violent crime was just as unlikely as ever. But certainly, it wasn't quite the same, and it seemed that the local authorities weren't bothered to much about it for that fact. Also to the discomfort of the locals. Not much really pleased those people.
Madison wasn't the kind of person who really cared about that kind of thing anyway. Those people certainly didn't seem to care about her, and she was the homeless one! Not that she knew what was happening most of the time. She found life enjoyable that way. Who needed to know what was going on? What did it matter! Those were her thoughts, as she sat, slumped but smiling stupidly, under one of the bridges in the park, surrounded by empty bottles, and cardboard mattresses. Just the way she liked it. Her stupid smile and sleepy eyes occupied her face with a sense of euphoric glee.
Aw shit life was great.
She had no idea what time it was, nor how long she'd even been at Selene. Or how long since she'd used shampoo in her hair, or gotten knew clothes or ate fresh food. No one would argue that Maddi had guts of steel. But damn she missed showers. The pond could only clean a person and their one set of clothes so much. It wasn't really effective and the fish weren't the kind to give foot pedicures. Madison considered this a waste of public funds. Not that she paid in at all. Most of what she had was found. Or 'acquired' otherwise. She simply re-homed other people's unwanted goods. She was doing a civil service for crying out loud.
From beneath the popular dating site, Madisons slurred nonsensical singing drifted. It was a not-so-popular site now, unfortunately, not everyone knew of this, so there was always someone knew to scare or surprise. None of them really hung around for very long, which was a shame.
Today was one of the rare days when Madison dared to venture much further than her cave under the bridge, troll that she was. She spent half an hour trying to get up the bank, bottle in hand. Any particularly mean and cold-hearted onlooker would have found the spectacle extremely entertainingly, if not pitiful. Eventually, she conquered the 10 foot summit, looking around, pleased, but covered in grass stains. "Awww yeash, fooking Quween of da world!" She shouted at the top of her lungs, lifting her hands forcefully into the air like some kind of rock band vocalist.
The peace didn't last long, before Madison toppled over, not quite able to balance the sudden movement, and she burst out into a fit of hysterical laughter.
Kuu Park, it seemed, was less family friendly than it had been.

particularly throughout his childhood things had been isolated—they hadn't had the money for any real long distance communication, and his mom got worried when he wasn't home on time. even as he got older he found he preferred to lock himself in his room for the majority of his time, but there were rare days like today that he took the time to stop and smell the flowers in as literal a sense of the word as he could manage.
the occasional trip through the park on his way back home from his obligations was a welcome detour from his usual route through the residential areas. it wasn't exactly out of the way, but it was no shortcut either, just a pleasant bend in the road for when he had the time and energy to spare. it seemed especially nice on this particular day; quiter than usual. peaceful, for the time being. the environment of the place had always been relaxing, but it was even nicer without a bunch of screaming children running around. there was at least one other person here, he noticed. nimat was one of several who had not gotten the memo.
he knew selene isle was no paradise, but to the untrained eye, it was about as close as it got. for what seemed to be the thousandth time that day the boy adjusted how his bag hung from his shoulder, the awkward sideways movement putting a stupid hop in his step as he continued to advance on his way, but he stopped all at once about halfway across the park's central bridge.
at least during the daylight hours, peculiar behavior was easy enough to pick out, and the figure in his peripheral vision caught his attention right away, seeming to face a considerable struggle in climbing the nearby knoll. rather than pity or entertainment, his immediate response was confusion, though it absolutely was a sight to see. the hill wasn't even that steep; he felt bad for being critical—for all he knew they may have been disabled or something—but the bottle in their head brought the picture together well enough.
he hung back nervously while they hollered and collapsed where they stood, worrying for a moment they might just roll back down the bank they came from in the first place. that was enough excitement for the day, he decided, but unless he wanted to go all the way back and turn around, there was only one way to go. picking up his pace, he sped forward, hoping to get by unnoticd. it was too early for this.

Maddi seemed to lay still, the laughter finally stopped, almost like she'd gone to sleep, out cold for the rest of the day. Obviously her battery life wasn't too long. Someone might even think there was something wrong with her, but to be fair they might not have been all that wrong. Unfortunately for the other person, that wasn't the case. Almost as soon as Nimat got within distance, the girl shot up, sitting and pointing at him, caked in mud and grass. "Yuuu, why wur yu lookin' at meh?" The question came sleepily, obviously not all cylinders firing, to say the least. Slowly but surely, the tall, drunk girl got to her feet, shaking and staggering as she did so. While Maddi wasn't out to harm anyone, the drunken oaf wasn't the kind of person you'd want to hang around too long. After a few short moment, a beaming smile crossed her face, gleeful as could be. "Ohh, yur very pwetty." The slurred words came with the undertone of stupid honestly that came with being drunk.
Rubbing herself down, trying to shake out loose bits of grass and mud, not really working out too well, Madison bowed slightly, as much as she could without falling over, at least. "I...!" She began before trailing off, unsure of what exactly she was going to say, a mixed look of confusion on her face as she worked back through her muddled thoughts. "Am Maaaaadisson." She finally managed, swaying as she did so with the force of the words. The white haired girl held out a hand. "Niiiiiice to meet yu." The hand fell back to her side before Nimat had the chance to even decide whether or not it would be a good idea to take her invitation. It was one less stressful choice. "I'm a gurl, by tuh way. Not mmmany people no daat." Her goofy smile continued. At the least, she seemed chipper enough. Wasn't looking to cause much trouble, anyway.
Before long, Madison sat herself back on the ground, and tried to drink from the very empty bottle in her hands. Upon realizing this, she sighed, throwing the glass thing down into the ditch where she lived. "Aww...oh well." She visibly slumped, almost disappointed with the revelation that she'd had the last drink she owned. "S'pose I betta find summoar." Her sleepy voice rumbled. Bright red eyes gazed back at the young boy. "Yuu wouldn't want ta 'elp meh find summoar, would yu?" She sounded very hopeful in asking. Obviously no one in their right mind would want to help Maddi get any more drink. Quite the opposite in fact, but a tall scary drunk person wasn't the kind people often looked to help. Not when they were covered in mud anyway. "Or sum coffeeh...might make mah head feel betta..."

nimat had never been a terribly lucky person, and he was naive to assume that today would be the day things turned around. he only managed to make his way a handful of yards before the figure in the grass had gone bolt upright again. he might have been able to pretend he hadn't heard, if not for the fact that he had obviously flinched; whether or not the other person had noticed, nimat certainly had, and by the time he realized his mistake, he had been standing like a deer in the headlights for a good several seconds.
yuuu, why wur yu lookin' at meh?
it took him a moment to register that the slurred syllables were in english, and yet more time to repeat them in his head until they made sense as such. still, he didn't have an answer for them— not one that he was going to say aloud, anyway. there was no polite way to verbalize the idea that their drunken climb had confused and worried him into attention, and he wasn't going to risk coming off as more rude than necessary. particularly now that this figure was now approaching him.
he was convinced he was in trouble. the feeling was made that much more unsettling by the dissonance it had with his surroundings; the idea that he could feel threatened in broad daylight in this beautiful park of all places just made everywhere else seem that much more dangerous, too. his body stayed rooted in place, but his brain certainly made a run for it, leaving him there with no response more appropriate for the situation than the dumb look plastered on his face. all of this before the most baffling thing had even happened yet.
ohh, yur very pwetty.
in the wrong context even this could be upsetting, but he wasn't met with so much as a hint of hostility; rather the opposite, actually. the joyful smile he was greeted with challenged his preconceived notions so abruptly that it made his head spin. he watched carefully as they dipped forward slightly, ready to make a move if they were to fall, but at least that much had turned out alright.
madison, they introduced themself. he had a name for the person now; by no choice of his own they had already moved half-way from strangers to acquaintances, but his own objections to that fact weren't enough to smother his sense of social obligation.
"nice— nice to meet you too." he hesitated to take the hand that was extended to him, but as he did move to respond, theirs retreated again. he promptly angled his hand into the pocket of his sweatshirt. nice save. he had meant to do that, obviously. "nimat."
i'm a gurl, by tuh way. not mmmany people no daat.
he... he believed it. the second part, anyway. his ears swiveled around on reflex, wondering if he had heard wrong, but he didn't dare contest it. he didn't have much time to think about it though, as the girl who had been chatting at him was quickly back on her way to the ground. startled at the idea that she could have been collapsing he lurched forward on impulse to help, but it quickly became apparent enough that it had been deliberate on her part. he shrank back gladly into his bubble.
he wondered why she was on the ground but decided not to try to work out her drunken logic. it seemed her source had run dry, so he could at least comfort himself with the idea that she wouldn't be getting any worse. he watched the bottle she discarded roll down the hill, and for the first time yet, noticed that it was far from the only one. leaning forward ever-so-slightly for a better view he noted several disorganized piles of them, littering the area around the flimsy remains of broken down boxes. oh. s'pose i betta find summoar.
he turned his line of sight back to where she sat in the grass, wondering why he hadn't been able to put everything together sooner: her disheveled appearance, the mingling scents of body odor and pond muck, the unabashed public drunkenness....
yuu wouldn't want ta 'elp meh find summoar, would yu?
all at once he found himself embarrassed by his own lack of sympathy up until this point. his mother would have been ashamed of him, he thought.
he'd have liked to help her somehow, certainly, but not by replenishing her supply; he wondered if he was meddling outside of his own business by concerning himself with her drinking, but he would have gone away feeling worse if he settled for enabling her like that. it occurred to him that he could easily dump his last $20 on her and be done with it, but he had no way of knowing she wouldn't just blow that on booze, either. he tried to come up with some compromise, but even drunk as she was, she beat beat him to it.
"coffee— yeah. i can... i can do coffee." he took a deep breath, pulling his bag up onto a more secure spot on his shoulder in preparation for travel. she had meant now, right? she must have. recalling her earlier troubles with her basic motor skills, he cautiously extended a hand; whether or not she accepted his help it was only right to offer it, and he'd rather not wait for her to struggle back to her feet on her own time. "did you, uh— were you thinking of anywhere in particular?"

Likely to Nimats surprise, the sound of a Coffee seemed to make the hardly functioning girl even happier. It was, as things went, her second favorite kind of drink. It didn't even occur to her in this state that he was trying to get her slightly less drunk. There was much at this point that made sense to her, and even less things she really cared to think about. People never gave her anything, so this was great! And then the expression changed to that of extreme emotional gratitude. It seemed that it even made her come around a little. "Ohhh fank yu Naahmaet." The words came as she really thought about the pronunciation of the boy's name.
Maybe when sober Maddi would have shown a little concern for her habit and how she was making a family friendly place a little less friendly. But in honesty, she didn't owe people anything. It's not like they'd given her the means to be anything other than what she was. Her empathy only went so far, and so did her hope of living in anyway other than this. Luckily the park had no lack of wishing fountains, so she could usually fish up a dollar or two if she needed to. Not that she held much stock in wishes.
"That would be really looveely..." The incapacitated girl took the smaller persons hand as she got up, standing slightly wobbly. "I'd owe yu big tiem." The tall girl grinned. Hopefully she remembered those words. Not that Nitmat seemed the kind of person who would chase her down if she didn't, but because her help might even be useful at some point. A confused Madison wasn't an agreeable one. Less agreeable than her drunken self. At least in her intoxicated state she was fairly thankful, even considerate. The loudness being an expecption.
With the loaded question of 'where', Madison eyes went wide in thought and shock. So, they were serious? Happy days! Part of her was flattered the boy even thought she knew where she was, let alone where she wanted to go. Though, she did have an idea...
Madison lifted a hand to her chin in thought for a second. "Thur is one guy not tooo far from 'ere that 'as neva let meh 'av a drink..." The girl swayed as she spoke. "I'm nawt allowed in anymoar..." The slurred speech came somewhat more precise than usual. Maybe simply because she was determined to have a drink from that guy, no matter what. Even if she sent Nimat in her place. "Yeaaaaa...that sounds...nice."

nimat was surprised to see her beaming so suddenly. that he was able to make someone's day with such a simple offer was at the same time both fulfilling and depressing. he hated to think that he pitied her—pity was such a patronizing, disrespectful feeling—but he couldn't deny that it was there on some level. knowing that, he almost felt bad, being on the receiving end of such obvious gratitude; while he knew he wasn't helping her only for his own satisfaction, he didn't totally feel as though he deserved the thanks, either. he supposed it worked out in some ways, too, as he found it much easier to write off her mispronunciation of his name than he would have with more others.
that would be really looveely... i'd owe yu big tiem.
the way her weight paired with her height, the girl didn't look terribly heavy. when she took the hand he offered to pull herself back up, he startled for a moment as he found himself almost ready to topple over. he shifted his own weight back aggressively— there. mission accomplished. he hovered like that for a moment to make sure she wouldn't topple over again before finally opening his mouth to respond. "no, ah— no such thing, it's no trouble." not only was he not the type to chase her down to make good on the promise, he was more than likely to try to write it off entirely.
he waited patiently while she considered his question, though he wondered how well she'd be able to narrow down her choices in her present state of mind. she did make work of it, though, he was glad; as he was getting ready to start throwing out a few options, she supplied her own. it was... an interesting one, definitely. nimat gave a few slow nods; he would indulge her request, though he could only wonder what he was getting himself involved in. he hoped he wouldn't be getting either of them in any trouble. why had she been banned from the establishment in the first place? what should have been an obvious answer was as mysterious as anything when he faced it with his typical naivety.
"what's the uh— do you know where it is, from here?" there were a few places within walking distance of where they were (by his standards, anyway), and he was at a loss for which one she could be referring to. "...want to lead the way?" he wasn't sure he should trust her inebriated self to get them to their destination, but if she could get them to the right area...
